U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods are set to start on March 4

The imposition of U.S. tariffs on Canadian good, and of Canadian retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods, which were set to begin on February 4 were put off for 30 days after U.S. President Trump and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau found common ground during phone call.

In the past several days, in answering questions from reporters during press conferences, Trump has said repeatedly that the U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods will start on March 4, 2024.

If this happens it is likely that Canada’s retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods will be implemented on the same day.
